Our Focus and Values

Notes:

Imagine Church purposefully uses the word church (Greek: ecclesia). An ecclesia was the political assembly of citizens in the Ancient Greek state, the church is the assembly of citizens of the Kingdom of God. We view the church as a school of kingdom discipleship (cf. Majority World Theology p. 505 ff)

In contrast to the biddings in the polis, however, the call is not issued by some passing political authority, but by their sovereign Creator, who in the past had already called a people together to serve as a living, loving witness of God’s good purposes in the world (see Genesis 18:18; 22:18; 26:4). From: Majority World Theology p. 506

Imagine Church is committed to the institutional church and its important place in civil society. Institutional Churches with full-orbed ministry and mission are critical to healthy communities.

… by being the kinds of communities they're called to be, [churches] can be a public good. These communities can foster and form people who actually know how to live in society and can shape that society in healthy ways.  James K.A. Smith

Leadership: Imagine Church is dedicated to leaders because as the leader goes, so goes the church. Healthy, biblically rooted, and trained leaders are essential to invigorating churches
